- Lisa Calder, MD, MSc, FRCP(C)CEO, Canadian Medical Protective Association
Dr. Lisa Calder is an emergency physician who undertook her 5-year residency at the University of Ottawa.
She completed an emergency medicine research fellowship and obtained her Master of Science degree in epidemiology in 2007. Since finishing her training Dr. Calder has also completed two fellowships: patient safety fellowship in emergency medicine from the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine and the Emergency Medicine Patient Safety Foundation, and the American Hospital Association’s fellowship in patient safety leadership.
She is an associate professor at the University of Ottawa’s department of Emergency Medicine, and has received the University of Ottawa’s excellence in emergency medicine quality and safety award as well as the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians’ teacher of the year award. She joined the CMPA in 2015 as director of Medical Care Analytics and has been CEO since 2020.

- Bruce A. Joyce, FCPA, ICD.DDirector
Bruce was a senior partner in the National Capital Region office of Deloitte, serving as the Office Managing Partner for seven years and the leader of the Canadian Federal Government practice for five years. After his retirement from Deloitte in 2010, Bruce was the VP of Leadership and Human Resource Research for the Conference Board of Canada until late 2011. In the fall of 2015, Bruce was the Executive in Residence at the Schwartz School of Business at St. Francis Xavier University.
Bruce was the founding Chair of the National Capital chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors. He holds his ICD.D designation and currently Chairs the Audit Committee of the Auditor General of Canada, is also a member of the Boards of two manufacturing companies, two technology companies and the Surrey City Development Corporation.
Bruce is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a Fellow of CPA Ontario (FCPA, FCA). He has completed the Directors Education Program through the Institute of Corporate Directors and is Human Resources and Compensation Committee Certified through The Directors College.
- Andrea Seymour, B.Ed, CHE, FCCHL Director
Andrea Seymour has more than 30 years of executive leadership and complex multi-system management experience and extensive expertise in strategic planning, policy development, operations management and program implementation.
Andrea recently retired from Horizon Health Network where she served as Chief Operating Officer and VP Corporate, accountable for all corporate services including risk management, finance, human resources, health information management, facilities support and infrastructure. Prior to this, Andrea served in a series of senior roles with the Government of New Brunswick, the River Valley Health Authority and Region 3 Hospital Corporation.
Andrea’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Education from the University of New Brunswick and Fellowships with the Canadian Council of Health Leaders, the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation (EXTRA) and the Ivey School of Business (CommunityShift). Andrea also maintains her professional designation as a Certified Health Executive from the Canadian College of Health Service Executives.
In addition to her Saegis Board member role, Andrea serves on the Board of Directors for Mohawk Medbuy, a not for profit organization provides shared services, including group buying services, for hospitals and community-based healthcare facilities.

Paul Healey, B.Sc, MD, CCFP(EM)Director
Dr. Paul Healey is a full-time emergency physician practising in Oakville, Ontario. A graduate of University of Western Ontario, he completed his residency at the University of Toronto. Dr. Healey is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at McMaster University. He has been involved in teaching medical students, residents, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.
Dr. Healey has served on multiple hospital committees involving emergency department design, transition to the new Oakville site, and hospital transition to electronic medical records. He has served as a medical inspector with the College of Physicians and Surgeons. In addition, he has been a medical expert in many legal proceedings. He is a graduate of the Rotman School of Management Advanced Health Leadership Program.
Dr. Healey is best known as the founder, with his wife Dr. Jane Healey, of the Physician Financial Independence online group, which is a forum where Canadian physicians teach each other about personal finance, evidence-based investing, and maximizing happiness. The active group has over 26,000 physician members and their spouses.
- Bharat Srinivasa, Ph.D.Director
Bharat Srinivasa is a co-founder and principal at Amplitude where he is involved in all aspects of deal flow including proving leadership in sourcing, diligence, and negotiation.
Prior to Amplitude, he was on the investment team at the BDC Healthcare Fund, where he was involved in taking multiple companies public. Prior to his VC career, Bharat was a consultant in forecasting and valuation practice at Foster Rosenblatt, an international life science consulting firm for biotech and pharma companies where he was responsible for providing business intelligence and commercial analytics and pricing & market access analysis. Bharat has a PhD in Experimental Medicine and Masters of Science in Microbiology and Immunology from McGill University.

As a researcher, she has published over 80 peer-reviewed publications and has been successful in securing research funding, including over 2 million dollars as principal investigator.
Dr. Calder is an Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa’s Department of Emergency Medicine, and has received the University of Ottawa’s Excellence in Emergency Medicine Quality and Safety Award as well as the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians’ Teacher of the Year Award.
Dr. Calder spent more than a decade practising as an emergency physician in Ottawa before joining the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) in 2015 as the Director of Medical Care Analytics. In her role as CMPA’s Director of Medical Care Analytics, she has diversified data sources and analytic approaches, created an evidence synthesis unit and a member data request service. She has also extended and created new stakeholder relationships that have elevated the CMPA’s profile internationally in medical-legal data analysis.

Dr. Jennifer Anne Gillis-Doyle, MD, CCFP(PC), FRCPCDirector1Dr. Jennifer Anne Gillis-Doyle is a palliative care physician located in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Dr. Gillis-Doyle graduated from Dalhousie University with a Doctor of Medicine in 2003, and went on to complete her family medicine residency in Moncton, New Brunswick. After practising comprehensive family medicine in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Ontario, Dr. Gillis-Doyle transitioned into a palliative-focused practice in 2008. In 2014, she returned to her hometown of Fredericton.Dr. Gillis-Doyle is a recipient of the Certificate of Added Competency in Palliative Care by the College of Family Physicians of Canada. In 2019, Dr. Gillis-Doyle challenged the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada sub-specialty exam and was successful in becoming a Royal College Fellow in palliative medicine.
As a palliative care consultant, Dr. Gillis-Doyle is passionate about the importance of communication skills and whole patient care.person85108

Dr. Birinder Singh, BSc, LLB, MD, CCFP, Law Society of OntarioDirector4Dr. Birinder Singh is a physician and lawyer who is currently the Medical Director of Eglinton Station Medical Centre, a multidisciplinary medical clinic serving midtown Toronto. He is a practicing family physician, in private practice for over 10 years. Birinder has been a medical inspector for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and an adjunct professor for the Family Medicine Longitudinal Experience at the University of Toronto. Birinder completed a combined law and medicine degree at The University of Western Ontario (now Western University). He served as a law clerk for the Honourable Mr. Justice Ian Binnie of the Supreme Court of Canada. Birinder worked as a legal consultant on a National Commission of Inquiry and provided legal consulting services for various interveners at the Supreme Court of Canada. During his legal training, he worked at McCarthy Tetrault LLP and Gowlings LLP.
Birinder has served on Council of the Canadian Medical Protective Association since 2014. Currently a member of the CMPA Executive Committee, Birinder served as Chair of the Pension Committee and the Human Resources and Compensation Committee, and served on the Governance and Nominating Committees. Previously, Birinder served on the board of directors of Access Alliance, and was a member of the systemic issues working group for the Sick Kids Family Legal Health Program.person1336
